HOW DO I GET STARTED?

Fill out the registration form below.  You will receive an email within two business days to welcome you and set up a lesson time. Once a date is confirmed for the first lesson, you will receive an emailed invoice for that month and the annual supply fee of $30.

HOW OLD DOES MY CHILD NEED TO BE?

Children can enroll once they’ve turned 4 years old.

HOW OFTEN WILL MY CHILD HAVE LESSONS?

Lessons are held on weekly Tuesday mornings. You’re child will be assigned a specific time for each Tuesday based on their usual arrival time and age group. 

WHEN AM I BILLED?

After filling out our online registration form, Elise will email you within two business days to welcome you and set up a lesson time. Once a date is confirmed for the first lesson, you will receive an emailed invoice for lessons that month and the $30 annual supply fee. 

When you pay this invoice online, you have the option to save your card securely with Stripe. If you save your card, you will be automatically billed at the beginning of each month for that month’s coming lessons and receive an emailed receipt. If you do not save your card, you will be sent an invoice due on the 1st of the month.

DO CHILDREN NEED A PIANO AT HOME?

Children ages 4 to 6 do not need to be on a piano at home to develop their foundational musical skills. You will receive optional ideas for developmentally appropriate games and activities that can be played with or without a piano, facilitating the broad musical and conceptual skills that we establish at this age.

If your child does have access to a piano on a regular basis, remember to encourage all types of play and exploration. What may sound like playing random notes or just banging is your child’s way of experimenting, learning, and developing their muscle coordination.

WHAT IF MY CHILD CAN’T MAKE IT TO THEIR LESSON?

Piano lessons at Hyde Park Montessori are only held once a week. Since your child’s time is reserved for them whether they are able to attend or not, make up lessons and refunds are not available for missed lessons. 

WILL MY CHILD HAVE A  RECITAL?

Recitals happen once a year in the Spring. All recitals are optional and free to participate in. They are generally held in the preschool at the end of the school day.

WHAT ARE RECITALS LIKE?

Recitals are fun, low pressure, and short. I sit with children at the piano so they are never alone in front of everyone. I’m right there to help them.

Each child will have a short song prepared, but no child is ever pressured to play. Students who want to do the recital, but change their mind when it’s their turn, will have a chance to play for just their parents after the recital is over. 

Recitals are a time to empower and encourage students by sharing their accomplishments. At this age especially, part of that empowerment is giving them a choice of how they share (including not participating at all). It is very important to me to create safe and fun recital environment to ensure a healthy relationship to performing as children grow.

WHAT IF I DECIDE TO DISCONTINUE LESSONS?

I ask for 30 days notice of cancellation. Your child is still welcome to have regular lessons during these 30 days. Your last month of lessons will be prorated according to the date notification is received.

CAN WE CONTINUE LESSONS AFTER GRADUATING HPM?

Yes! Piano with Elise has a team of experienced piano teachers that offer lessons in their studios and students’ homes. We accommodate students of all ages including adults. Many HPM graduates have taken lessons for years afterwards.
